Inspiring Inventors – in conversation with Joachim Fiedler

Meet Joachim Fiedler, the former cellist whose issue with a cello-bow holder led him to develop magnetic fasteners now used in helmets, bags and more.

Our next Inspiring Inventors talk will feature a conversation with European Inventor Award 2022 finalist Joachim Fiedler. A former professional cellist, Joachim developed a fastening system that combines magnetic attraction with a mechanical lock, making it easy to connect and release with one hand. The technology is now used in products including bicycle helmets, bags and car seats.
Joachim will discuss what prompted his invention, how he established FIDLOCK and how the technology has evolved for different applications.

The talk will be held in English on Monday, 16 November 2026 from 15.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs CET. No registration is required, and you can watch the event on our livestream platform or on our social media channels linked on our event page.
