Brookside Home – Ráckeve's Reimagined Gateway

The "Brookside Home" thesis project reimagines the terminus of Ráckeve's H6 suburban railway (HÉV) line and its neglected, former brownfield surroundings. The goal is for the station to become more than a transit point — a living, communal heart of the town. At the center of the plan stands a conference and cultural center, directly connected to the HÉV station yet organized as its own independent structure. The new building can host events, theater performances, town hall meetings, and smaller festivals alike. According to the concept, the site's industrial past isn't erased but woven into the architectural language — visible in the choice of materials, the massing, and preserved details. The design draws on international best practices, such as Denmark's Dokk1 and Austria's Lustenau Bahnhof, where transit hubs became genuine urban catalysts. The project also includes a thorough exploration of the town's historical, social, and urban structural background. The design process unfolded through field research, document analysis, and independent architectural concept development. The result is a transitional space that connects transportation, community life, and the urban fabric. "Brookside Home" is therefore not a simple functional addition, but the restart of an entire urban district — RE-GENERATION in its truest sense.
