Intensive, Online IP-Course

Protect your ideas, understand their value: online IP training for university students
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will hold the fifth edition of its Intensive IP Educational Programme online from 19 October to 27 November 2026. Designed for university students with a beginner to intermediate understanding of intellectual property, the programme explores how IP can be protected and put to use.
How can you protect an invention, a brand name or a product design? How can intellectual property create business value? Through seven modules, the programme combines legal foundations with practical examples and case studies, covering protection, enforcement and commercialisation.
Contributors include experts from the European Patent Office (EPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Commission and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), alongside university and professional partners.
Modules and dates:
- 19–20 October: Trade Marks
- 23 October: Designs
- 29 October: Copyright
- 9 November: Patents
- 13 November: IP Valuation and Commercialisation
- 26 November: Geographical Indications
- 27 November: Community Plant Varieties
The programme is particularly relevant to students working on research projects, technical solutions, creative work or entrepreneurial ideas. Suggested learning pathways help participants select sessions relevant to engineering, business, law, agri-food and life sciences. Participants are welcome to attend any session of any module.
Participation and registration
Sessions will take place live via Zoom. Advance registration through the EUIPO Academy Learning Portal is required. Participants who do not already have a portal account can create one free of charge.
A certificate of participation is issued for each module to participants attending at least 80% of its live sessions. Recordings will be available for a limited period, but live attendance is required to obtain a certificate. Reading materials and slides will be published on the portal after each module.
Participants must use a Zoom display name containing their university affiliation and full name, for example: Óbuda University – Anna Minta. Participants who have not registered in advance or do not use the required display name will not be admitted.
The Innovation Office encourages Óbuda University students to explore the programme and develop the IP skills that help turn ideas into protected, valuable outcomes.
