HSUP at Óbuda University – What Happened This Year?
We have successfully completed another HSUP year at Óbuda University, during which students not only gained insight into the world of startups but also had the opportunity to begin transforming their own ideas into real projects.
During the first semester, 172 students enrolled in the HSUP I course, resulting in a total of 83 startup ideas being submitted. From these, the 4 most promising projects were selected to continue into the second semester, where they could build teams and further develop their ideas in a mentored environment.
The selected teams received support from Óbuda University mentors in areas such as business development, company formation, and intellectual property protection, helping them take their first steps toward building successful startups with greater confidence.
Throughout the year, we placed a strong emphasis on community building and the transfer of practical knowledge. In total, we organized 7 professional events covering topics such as pitching techniques, team building and matchmaking, the role of design in startups, information fairs, and the experiences and advice of former HSUP alumni. We also explored the differences between Hungarian and international startup ecosystems and discussed the lessons that can be learned from successful international examples.
A total of 55 students from 6 different universities participated in these events, demonstrating how innovation and entrepreneurial thinking are increasingly bringing young people together across institutional boundaries.
For us, HSUP is much more than a university course. It is a community where students can learn from one another, build teams, expand their networks, and experience firsthand how an idea can evolve into a real project—or even a future business venture.
We would like to congratulate the teams that advanced to the next stage and wish them the very best of luck at the upcoming Demo Day event!
The Innovation Office of Óbuda University is dedicated to supporting ideas, projects, and startups born within the university. Our goal is to accompany teams throughout their entire development journey by providing professional mentoring, supporting business development, and connecting them with investors and key players in the innovation ecosystem. Leveraging the entrepreneurial and innovation expertise we have accumulated over the years, we work to help transform university-born ideas into successful innovations and market-ready businesses.
The conclusion of the HSUP program does not mark the end of our collaboration. We encourage all students and teams to continue reaching out to the Innovation Office after the program. Whether they need mentoring, networking opportunities, access to funding programs, connections with investors, or support in taking the next step in their entrepreneurial journey, they can continue to count on us.
We would like to thank all students, mentors, and partners who contributed to this inspiring year. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of innovators in the coming academic year—those who are ready to turn their ideas into real value and make a lasting impact. 🚀
