Innovative Ideas in the Spotlight – Pitch Training for HSUP Participants

The Innovation Office of Óbuda University recently organized another professional event for participants of the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP), this time focusing on pitch development and effective presentation skills.

The workshop was led by David Trayford, a member of the Innovation Office, coach, and communication expert. Participants gained valuable insights into how to present an idea clearly, confidently, and persuasively to investors and professional audiences.

Students from three universities—Óbuda University, Semmelweis University, and Corvinus University—took part in the event.

A total of six teams attended the preparatory workshop, where they had the opportunity to refine their ideas and presentations, discuss pitch structures and delivery techniques, and learn practical presentation methods, persuasive tools, and communication strategies. During the session, participants reviewed the competition process, evaluation criteria, and effective ways to present an idea within a limited timeframe. They also received direct professional feedback to help further improve their pitches.

Beyond developing presentation skills, the workshop also provided an opportunity for students to learn about each other’s projects, strengthening inter-university collaboration, networking, and innovation-focused partnerships.

We are particularly pleased that the event once again demonstrated the growing interest in student innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, as well as the openness of innovation ecosystem stakeholders to collaboration and shared development.

Although the event was organized by Óbuda University, it is becoming increasingly clear that the future lies in strengthening cooperation between universities. Our goal is to involve as many students as possible from a wide range of institutions and to build an open, supportive, and active innovation community together.
